Fundão joins Sustainable Energy Days with Plenty-Life session

Fundão joins the Sustainable Energy Days initiative with a session dedicated to the European project Plenty-Life

The Municipality of Fundão joined the Sustainable Energy Days initiative, a decentralized action promoted within the scope of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EU Sustainable Energy Week – EUSEW), by holding a working session on April 11, 2025. These events, organized throughout Europe, aim to mobilize local communities, public authorities, businesses, and citizens around the energy transition and the promotion of sustainable solutions.

In this context, Fundão hosted a session dedicated to presenting the results of the European project Plenty-Life, in which it is the pilot territory in Portugal. Plenty-Life is a project funded by the LIFE – Clean Energy Transition programme of the European Commission and aims to support small and medium-sized cities in defining and implementing strategies to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The session held in Fundão thus marked a moment of articulation between a large-scale European initiative and a local intervention deeply committed to sustainability. The results of the various workshops carried out throughout the project were presented, involving technicians, political decision-makers, citizens, and local partners in a collaborative process and knowledge-building.

Several personalities linked to local and regional governance were present at the session, whose participation has been decisive in defining a shared strategic vision for the sustainable future of Fundão. This initiative allowed not only to reflect on the progress achieved but also to reinforce the Municipality’s commitment to the principles of a fair, inclusive, and participatory energy transition.

By integrating the Sustainable Energy Days, the Municipality of Fundão reinforces its position as an active agent in promoting environmental and energy sustainability, aligned with European policies and the aspirations of the local community.
