PLENTY-Life at #EURegionsWeek 2025 – Join three sessions on integrated clean energy and sustainable planning!

The PLENTY-Life project will take part in the European Week of Regions and Cities (EURegionsWeek) 2025, the EU’s largest annual event on regional development and cohesion, taking place in Brussels from 13 to 15 October under the motto “Shaping Tomorrow, Together.”

This year, PLENTY-Life partners will host three sessions showcasing innovative approaches to clean energy transition strategies, spatial planning, and citizen engagement.

Our sessions:

  1. Integrated Clean Energy Transition Strategies
  2. Supporting the clean energy transition
  3. Small Towns, Big Energy

1. Integrated Clean Energy Transition Strategies – A replacement for or advancement beyond SECAP? The innovative approach of the PLENTY-Life project

📅 Tuesday 14 October 2025, 11:30–12:30 CET

The PLENTY-Life project introduces a novel planning approach integrating the energy, urban and spatial domains to support long-term clean energy strategies for small and medium-sized cities, aligned with future socio-economic and technological trends. The workshop will showcase the co-creation process and the key role of cities as need-owners, co-designers, data providers and facilitators of stakeholder engagement. The session presents the planning method, challenges in data provision and successful case studies from European pilots, highlighting progress beyond the traditional SECAP approach and demonstrating the diversity of data needs and a graded data-gathering approach.

2. Shaping tomorrow: Supporting the clean energy transition through spatial planning

📅 Wednesday 15 October 2025, 11:30–12:30 CET

📍 Jacques Delors building, JDE 70

🔗 Register here: https://regions-and-cities.europa.eu/programme/2025/sessions/49847

Municipalities are key players in the clean energy transition, as planning authorities and infrastructure providers and for citizen participation. This workshop explores how municipalities can use integrated spatial and energy planning to positively shape their energy and climate future. Drawing on the PLENTY-Life project, experts and municipal actors will showcase how energy-efficient spatial and settlement structures can be created and maintained. The session features short keynotes followed by a panel discussion, and will be supported by interactive tools (e.g. Slido) to encourage exchanges, the sharing of experiences and the active engagement of participants.

3. Small Towns, Big Energy: Citizens Shaping a Sustainable Future (with EN-TRACK Project)

📅 Tuesday 14 October 2025, 11:30–12:30 CET

📍 Square Brussels, 311–312

🔗 Register here: https://regions-and-cities.europa.eu/programme/2025/sessions/48764

Organised jointly with the EN-TRACK project, this workshop will showcase how rural municipalities can drive a fair energy transition. It will highlight project results, case studies, and pilot city experiences, followed by an open discussion on how these approaches can be replicated across Europe.
